Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam is the most sustainable hotel in the Netherlands, designed by SeARCH architects and urban planning from Amsterdam. With its transparent and glass facades and unique thirty-meter high wooden main structure, the building is not only spectacular, but also very sustainable and symbolizes the historic maritime connection between Amsterdam and Asia.
Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam consists out of 3 elements:
The transparent ground floor, connecting to the urban space on all sides
The atrium with the subtropical inner garden, adjacent to and fully visible in the north facade
Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam is a fully-fledged public building, a lively cornerstone of the city.
This is mainly reflected in the dynamic public spaces, in the plinth of the building that connects on all sides to the height-varying ground level.
Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam is a public building. On the ground floor you will find the restaurant with terrace at the IJ, on the 1st floor you will find Bakery Westers with espresso bar, wellness area with swimming pool and three meeting rooms. The subtropical courtyard with a selection of Asian trees, palms and plants in the heart of the building is freely accessible to everyone. This garden is a collaboration with the Hortus Botanicus.

The 200 hotel rooms in the hotel are for the most part pre-fabricated and built-in on site and have an indoor balcony that can be completely closed off, so that noise is kept out and heat is kept inside. The 6 suites are located in the glass point of the hotel, they have a French balcony and, because of their unique location, have a fantastic 180 ° view over the IJ!
The SeARCH design pushes boundaries in many areas.
